LeesmithLee M. Smith founded the law firm in 1985. Lee’s practice focuses on the representation of employers related to workers’ compensation matters. Lee also maintains a civil litigation practice with his practice focusing on equine cases.

Lee began his legal career with the Ohio Attorney General’s office in 1978 and was the Chief of the Workers’ Compensation Section from 1980 through 1985. While working in the Ohio Attorney General’s office, Lee represented the Ohio Bureau of Workers’ Compensation and Industrial Commission in various aspects of workers’ compensation litigation, successfully handling over 70 jury trials.

Since founding the firm, he has been appointed Special Counsel to the Ohio Attorney’s General office and currently serves as Collections Special Counsel to the Ohio Attorney General. Lee has argued before the Industrial Commission of Ohio, the Tenth District Court of Appeals and the Ohio Supreme Court.

Lee has been actively involved in the breeding and exhibiting of American Quarter Horses and has represented clients at various administrative levels as well as in civil litigation in the Ohio court system. Lee has represented the Ohio Quarter Horse Association and served as a Director of the Ohio Quarter Horse Association. He served two terms on the Ohio Expo Commission and served as its Chairman for three years.

Lee has guided the firm’s focus to primarily include workers’ compensation litigation and claims management. Lee also has an active lobbying practice, involving both state and local government.
